Sweet Pea - came to us in the
second week of January, 1998. Her and her brother Rex were only 8 weeks
old, and covered in sarcoptic mange, full of worms and so malnourished
they could hardly walk, much less play.
With treatment for the severe mange, proper nutrition and antibiotics, both her and her brother began to thrive. By the time she was placed into a new home, she weighed nearly 30lbs, and was a sleek, happy, smart puppy. |

Rex was placed in May! He is now a 5 month old huge Black Lab puppy- last weighing in at 55lbs. He had his basic obediance and housetraining, along with plenty of socialization. We'd about decided, as usual, to keep him unless the "perfect home" came along; in April, that home called us. He is now one of three well cared for dogs, and goes for hikes with his new owners. His new family loves him and is very impressed with his manners and temperment! |

Buddy - was hit by a car in a town 30 miles away in the spring of 1997. The person who hit him stopped and took him to their local vet. But because nobody knew his owner, he lay at the vet office overnight with no treatment. The next day, a witness to the accident called to check on him and found out that he had been untreated. She rushed him to another vet, this one in our town. She told them that if a home could be found, she would take a collection up to pay for his care. We were called, and could not turn down this English Springer Spaniel in need. Buddy ended up having a rear leg amputated, and needed constant care for a couple weeks after he came home. He is now thriving in our home as one of our own, and he is part of our family. |

Ripley - has an interesting story: he was another Humane Society Adoption Day puppy, only we thought he was a full grown moppy dog, because of all his hair and intelligence. Big mistake: Ripley (as in Believe-it-or-Not) was an 8-10 week old English Sheepdog mix. We placed him in a temporary foster home to await adoption; he is now living at that home and is part of the family, no longer up for adoption. Ripley likes wild apples, sticks, and covering his food with hay. He has turned out to be an intellengent, energetic part of his new family! His playmate is a small dachsund, and to see the two of them chase each other around the yard is a hoot! |

Max - was our first Internet Adoption Puppy. He was rescued from a sad home next to a busy highway, where many of his littermates had been killed. When rescued, Max was diagnosed with sarcoptic mange, malnutrition and worms, and put into isolation with Rex and Sweetpea. After his recovery, he was listed here on the classified pages, and found himself a home! He is pictured here at his new home, a wonderful couple in the Atlanta area. |

Ladybug - was living under an apartment building, and eating scraps. She was nearly a year old, and had been abused. We rescued her, took her to the vet to be spayed (she was suspected with puppies), and, since it was January, she came into the house to recover from her surgery. That was two years ago, and she hasn't left. She has turned out to be a wonderful dog we just fell in love with. Shy at first and untrusting, she has now fully adjusted to life as a one of our family. |
